Featured Author Event with Joel H. Morris
All Our Yesterdays
Before Shakespeare’s Macbeth, there was her story.
This spring, Clearview Reads welcomes Colorado author Joel H. Morris for a special two-day literary event centered on his award-winning debut novel, All Our Yesterdays — a powerful reimagining of Lady Macbeth set in 11th-century Scotland.
A USA Today bestseller and winner of the Colorado Book Award for Historical Fiction, All Our Yesterdays explores ambition, power, and fate through the life of a woman shaped by prophecy, political violence, and survival. Morris brings historical depth and emotional nuance to one of literature’s most enduring figures, inviting readers to see Lady Macbeth not as a villain, but as a fully realized human being navigating a brutal world.
Clearview Reads is an annual author talk presented by the Clearview Library District Friends & Foundation and sponsored by the Weld Community Foundation Kathy Murphy Speaker Series Fund.
About the Book: All Our Yesterdays
Set ten years before the events of Shakespeare’s Macbeth, All Our Yesterdays follows a young noblewoman in 11th-century Scotland as she comes of age in a world defined by superstition, warfare, and political maneuvering.
Born into legacy and loss, she survives a violent marriage, protects her son, and ultimately rises to a position of power, even as prophecy and ambition threaten everything she loves. Rich with historical detail and psychological insight, the novel examines how power is claimed, how fate is resisted, and what survival demands of those denied it.
