Honoring Kathy Murphy and the Murphy Family
Clearview Reads is made possible through the Kathy Murphy Speaker Series Fund, a memorial fund established in honor of Kathy Murphy, former director of the Windsor-Severance Library District. Kathy served as director from 1983 to 1999, and her leadership was instrumental in the construction of the 13,300-square-foot library building on Third Street in Windsor, which opened in 1997.
Kathy was known for her warm and generous spirit, her can-do attitude, and her irreverent sense of humor. She was a beloved figure in the community, and her passion for libraries and literacy continues to inspire. After her passing, her husband, Vince, created the Kathy Murphy Speaker Series Fund in partnership with the Weld Community Foundation and the Friends & Foundation. This fund ensures that an author is brought to Windsor each year to engage the community in meaningful literary discussions, carrying on Kathy’s legacy and love for books.
The fund is managed by the Weld Community Foundation, with its interest allocated annually to cover the cost of the author and event space for Clearview Reads. This partnership allows us to continue bringing celebrated authors to our community, enriching our cultural and literary landscape.
We extend our deepest gratitude to the Murphy family for their generosity and commitment to literacy, learning, and the Windsor community. Kathy’s vision and passion live on through this program, and we are honored to continue her legacy through Clearview Reads.
