Sip, Shop and Swap

The Friends of the Library Foundation sponsored our second Sip, Shop, and Swap event at Words of Windsor on March 14. We had so much fun - seeing friends old and new as well as sharing good books. Thank you to Sam at Words of Windsor.

Author Talk

The Friends and Foundation of the Clearview Library has been very busy since the beginning of the year.

Our 2022 "Kathy Murphy Speaker Series" on April 22nd featured Nina Jones Kunze, a local Colorado author. Nina shared highlights and insights of her book, "Anna Wolfrom Dove and the Wigwam Tea Room". Anna was a single woman homesteader in Estes Park who ran a Tea Room that was a Rocky Mountain gem in Estes Park. Nina’s carefully researched account of this remarkable woman and her contributions that helped shape Estes Park lured many local history buffs to attend as well as those who love Estes Park, Rocky Mountain Park and, women’s history and tea!

The Arts & Heritage Center hosted Nina's historical talk; afterwards, High Tea with plated confections (from Windsor Lake Coffee) was served with attendees enjoying conversation, getting their books signed and meeting the author.

The F&F Board celebrated National Library Week

The Friends and Foundation Board treated the Library staff to a coffee truck on National Library Workers day.

Interview with a Friend

An Interview with Jennifer Swanson, Friend since 2021.

1) What is your first memory of visiting a library?

My first memories of a library are from 5 or 6 years old; we would visit the library to read, and then check out stacks of books. The best part of these trips, though, was stopping at Dairy Queen for a dilly bar afterwards. As I grew older, I remember visiting this same library for school research projects, including a very important diorama on yaks in 2nd grade.

2) What do you think is the most unique part of the Clearview Library District? About the Windsor-Severance Library? The Bookmobile?

I love the wide variety of programming that is available, and how these programs for kids and adults bring us all together as a community. I love visiting a program and meeting people who I might not have run into by myself.

3) What part of the new library renovation are you most excited about?

I'm loving the new children's and teen's spaces! They look very inviting, and I know my kids will love them.

4) What is your favorite section of the library (nonfiction, DVDs, new releases, young adult, etc)?

I am primarily a nonfiction reader. I particularly love a good history or science book, and preferably one so thick it's a danger to read in bed.

5) What book is on your coffee table/bed stand right now? How many books are underneath it, and are the books read or unread?

There are about 7 books on my nightstand right now, all unread except the top book. There's everything from a book on meditation to a history of the world with a memoir and a book on the science of trails in between!
